Today’s guest is known to Christians concerned about justice and creative community building. In 1995, he and a small group of Christians
created The Simple Way, an intentional community devoted to really living out the teachings of Jesus in a mixed, poor neighborhood of Philadelphia. Christian intentional communities are now popping up in cities across the land. The experience and example of The Simple Way have influenced many who are looking ahead to the “next phase” of Church.
Always in the fight for justice, Shane has been involved in work with the poor and with struggling people everywhere. His adventures have taken him from the streets of Calcutta where he worked with Mother Teresa to the wealthy suburbs of Chicago where he served at the influential mega-church Willow Creek. As a peacemaker, his journeys have taken him to some of the most troubled regions of the world – from Rwanda to the West Bank – and he’s been on peace delegations in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Shane writes and travels extensively speaking about peacemaking, social justice, and Jesus. Shane’s many books include “Ordinary Radicals “and “Common Prayer.” His books are translated into more than a dozen languages. Shane speaks over 100 times a year, nationally and internationally.
